DAY 1 : FRANCE / FLIGHT TO DELHI.
Flight to Delhi. After the immigration and collecting the baggage, you will be greeted by one of our representatives and then transferred to your hotel.

DAY 2 : DELHI – LEH
Morning flight for Leh from Delhi. On arrival at Leh you will be greeted by our representative and transfer to hotel for check-in. Spend the day in the hotel for rest and acclimatization. This is very necessary for getting acclimatized at high altitude. Evening one can visit market of Leh.

DAY 3: LEH – SPITUK – PHIYANG – NAMGYAL TSEMO.
We start our day with the visit of Spituk and Phiyang monasteries then we go back to our hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, visit of Namgyal Tsemo Fort. The view from top is unforgettable. Walk back to the hotel through old town.

The Spituk Gompa was founded in 11th century by Od-De, the elder brother of Lama Changchub-od. The Gompa was named Spituk (exemplary) by Rinchen Zangpo; a translator came to that place and said that exemplary religious community would rise. Initially the Gompa was run according to the Kadampa School then during the reign of King Tagspa Bumldey he converted it to Geluk Pa order.

Phiyang monastery was founded during reign of King Jamyang Namgyail in 16th century. Phiyang Monastery belongs to the red hat sect of Digungpa order of Tibetan Buddhism, which was started by Skyoba Jigsten Gonbo. The site of the monastery was received as a gift to Chosje Damma Kunga, given by King Jamyang Namgyail.

DAY 4: LEH – SHEY -THIKSAY -HEMIS.
Visit of ancient monasteries of Indus valley. Hemis is the largest and richest monastery in Ladakh. It was founded in 1633 by the king Singay Namgyal and Lama Staktsang Raspa of Bhutan. Hemis belongs to the Drukpa Kagyu order. Thiksey is one of the most beautiful monasteries of Ladakh, it is known as ‘the mini Potala’. It belongs to the Gelukpa order. The monastery was founded by Lama Paldan Sheyrab the nephew of Sheyrab Zangpo in mid-15th century.
Shey used to be the ancient capital of Ladakh. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of the 17th century. Its 12m Buddha statue made of copper guilt was built by King Deldan Namgyal in the memory of his father Singay Namgyal.

DAY 5: LEH – LIKIR -ALCHI – LEH.
We are heading towards the western part of Ladakh, to Alchi. On the way, we visit Likir Monastery, lunch at Alchi. After the lunch we will visit the Alchi Monastery and drive back to Leh.
Likir Monastery was established in 1065 by Lama Duwang Chosjey, under the command of the 5th king of Ladakh, Lhachen Gyalpo . As a great meditation practitioner, the Lama blessed the site and the monastery was built. The name Likir means "The Naga – Encircled”, as the gompa stands encircled by the bodies of the two great serpent spirits. In 15th century, Likir Monastery was flourishing under Lhawang Lotus Sangphu, the disciple of Khastubjey. At this time, it was then brought under the Gelugpa order, founded by Lama Tsongkhapa.
Alchi monastery which is also known by the name of Alchi Choskhor. Built by great translator Rinchen Zangpo (958-1055), the oldest monuments preserved here date back to the middle of the 12th century. The significance of the monastery also lies in the fact that it is the only one that has been built on a flat ground. The monastery has some splendid wall paintings. One of its walls features thousands of miniature sized pictures of the Buddhas.

DAY 6: LEH – UPSHI – CHUMATHANG – MAHE – KORZOK
Today we will leave the hotel with bags and all equipment for the trek. The long drive from Leh to Tsomoriri gives us tremendous opportunities for photography. We pass through many typical Ladakhi villages. One stop at Chumathang for the picnic and to visit the Hot water springs. After that you will continue to Mahe and the road will take you to Tibetan village called Sumdo. Another two one drive to Tsomoriri with the pass Namsang la (4850m). The changes in landscape are difficult to imagine.

DAY 7: KORZOK – KHARLUNG -KAYLAY -KYANGDAM.
First day of trek and the trail starts gentle and easy, all-day walking along with the shore of Lake Tsomoriri. The Lake is breeding grounds for numerous species of birds. Chief among them is the black neck crane but we can also observe bar headed goose, crested grebe, the Brahmin duck, and the brown headed gull and many more. We pass through a palace called Ulung Malung and Kharlung, every year in May, nomads come here with their stocks and every November/December they move to Kyangdam where our campsite is located.

DAY 8 : KYANGDAM – CHUMIK SHALTAY – NORBU SUMDO – KYOLAM DANGSA.
As soon as you leave Kyangdam camp, cross the river and walk through a plain ground. We will reach to a spring water Chumik Shaltay where nomads stay in November and December. We will continue onward to the green pasture of Norbu Sumdo and enter the Parang Valley. Cross the Parang Chu, the water level can be high in the afternoon that’s why an early start is recommended. Less than hour to Kyolam Dangsa.

DAY 9: KYOLAM DANGSA – PHOLONG PARAK – KATPA BUTSAK.
Following the Parang Chu we will hike through the beautiful valley. A fairly levelled path takes us to Pholng Parak which was used to be a commercial hub for the people of Chanthang and Spiti to exchange their goods. One of the most fascinating things about the valley is the ever-changing landscape.

DAY 10: KATPA BUTSAK – LUNGKAR YOKMA -TARANG YOKMA
We remain in the same valley and the trail continues along Parang Chu. It's a very pleasant hike. Keep walking in the same direction along the river and the campsite is near the river with a small spring.

DAY 11 : TARANG YOKMA – KHARSA PUPNYIN LUNGPA – BASE CAMP.
Walk on the banks of the river to enjoy this magical palace. Through several ups and downs, we will reach the Tarang Kongma. From here; we will be afforded our first view of the Parang La. We then join the campsite after crossing tributaries coming from the east. The highest camp of our trek.

DAY 12: BASE CAMP – PARANG LA – JUSTAK – THALTAK.
Quite arduous day so an early start is recommended. We head towards the Parang La pass (5300m), ascending slowly in the thin air of this high-altitude plateau. You have to cross the Parang La pass through the glacier. Walk form right side of the glacier through the foothill till the crevasses becomes very narrow or finishes. The view from here is breathtaking. A very steep walk down to the river- also called Parang Chu and walk towards east along the river through a narrow gorge. Thagltak is reached after crossing the river and a steep ascent towards south. The campsite is up the hill.

DAY 13: THALTAK – KIBAR – KEE MONATERY - KAZA.
After yesterday’s strenuous walk, today will feel quite easier as we walk through a good path with several small inclines and a series of grassy ridges. There are Mani walls (walls carved with Buddhist prayers) and Chortens en route. A steady decent to the valley will lead us to a trail which crosses several delightful pastures supporting a variety of wildflowers in the summer. Cross the river and steep ascent take you to the Kibbar village. We terminate our trek here. Drive to Kaza the capital of Spiti. On the way to Kaza visit Kee monastery which is said to have been founded by a pupil of the famous teacher Atisha, in the 11th century. Evening free to explore the local market.

DAY 14: KAZA – DHANKHAR MONASTERY – TABO – KAZA.
The full day is dedicated to the sightseeing of Spiti Valley monasteries. We start our day from visiting Dhankar monastery beautifully perched on a hill top overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers. The monastery was built approximately one thousand years ago and now belongs to the Gelugpa School of order since the 1450s. Prior to this, Dhankar Monastery is also known to have been Nyingma-pa, Sakya-pa and Kagyu-pa, depending upon the religious allegiance of the King’s family. One of the major attractions of Dhankar Monastery is statue of Vairochana (Dhayani Buddha), consisting of 4 figures seated back-to-back. It also houses a collection of various centuries old Thangkas. Dhankar was the traditional capital of the Spiti Valley Kingdom during the 17th century and has some features dating back to the 12th century.

Later drive towards Tabo, also known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas. Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo, the renowned scholar is said to have built this monastery in 996 AD. Held in high regard by Tibetan Buddhists, Tabo is second in importance to the Tholing Gompa in Tibet and the largest monastic complex of Spiti, gathering 9 temples in, 23 Chortens, many caves for monks and nuns. Tabo is on the list of suggested UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Check out the unrivalled collection of manuscripts and thangkas (Buddhist scroll paintings), beautiful statues in stuccos, frescos and murals illustrating tales from the Mahayana Buddhist Pantheon.
After visiting dhankhar and Tabo Monasteries we drive back to Kaza.

DAY 15 : LANGZA / HIKKIM / KOMIC / KAZA.
After breakfast, we are going to visit all the beautiful hidden gems of Spiti Valley like Langza,Hikkim and Komic villages.

Langza will be the 1st. beautiful village that we will visit. It is about 14 kilometres from Kaza and is divided in two parts ; Langza Gongma “Upper Langza” and Langza Yongma meaning “Lower Langza”. It has a population of about 160 people with about 30-40 houses. Like other villages in this region. This small village is also famous for ancient fossils; for which they also have a Fossil centre here. Millions of years ago, Spiti lay submerged under the Tethys Sea and the fossils of the marine animals are found scattered close to the village.
This village also offers a magnificent view of Chau Chau Kang Nilda peak. Literal meaning of the name of this peak is “Blue moon in the sky”. Another attraction however at Langza is a grande statue of Lord Buddha statue. This village becomes a hot spot for spotting Snow Leopards.

Hikkim is one of the highest year-round inhabited villages in India, with altitude of 4400 meters. Hikkim is credited as World's highest polling station. It is recorded in the Limca Book of Records. The World's highest post office. The Pin code is 172114.The post office also acts as a savings bank where villagers can deposit money in their savings accounts or withdraw money. Note don’t forget to bring your postcard to post from world highest post office.

Komic The next stop will be Komic – the highest village in the world connected by a motor-able road as proclaimed by a HP PWD board in the village (this claim is suspect since there are villages in Peru and China which are situated at higher altitudes). However, the Tanggyud monastery at Komic is indeed the highest monastery in the Spiti valley. Komic is situated in a bowl-shaped depression surrounded by tall peaks on all sides. Cultivation is restricted to the summer months only, for rest of the year the villagers depend on livestock farming and barter.

DAY 16 : KAZA / KUNZOM LA /ROTHANG LA / MANALI-
Along with the Spiti River we pass through many villages and little stop at Losar check point. The landscape here is unforgettable. Another one-hour drives to reach Kunzum Pass (4590m). Goddess Kunzum (Paldan Lamo/Shridevi) resides in a temple on the Kunzum top. Visitor circumambulates the temples to seek blessings. From top view of Shigri Parbat (6526m), Kullu Pumori (6553m), Bara Shigri glacier the second longest glacier in Himalaya after Gangotri glacier. Chandratal Lake is 7 km from Kunzum Pass. The condition of the road is quite bad. We descent towards our picnic spot.
Drive to Manali via Rotang La (3937m) which is one of the favourite destinations among Indian tourist. There are activities like paragliding and snow-scooter riding. It is a gateway to Lahaul and Spiti, Pangi and Ladakh. This road appears in the French documentary called Les Routes de l’Impossible. Another 51km to Manali, passing through Mari, and then Kothi.

Drive to Manali via the Rotang La Pass (3937m) which is one of the favourite destinations for Indian tourists. There are plenty of outdoor activities such as skydiving or snowmobiling. The pass is the gateway to Lahaul Spiti, Pangi and Ladakh. This road appears in the documentary American Roads of the Impossible. Only 51km left before reaching Manali via Mari and Kothi.

DAY 17: MANALI
Manali is named after the law giver Manu. The word Manali comes from "Manu-Alaya" which literally means "the abode of Manu”. It is located at an altitude of 1900 M in the Beas River Valley. Manali is also famous as Apple country, throughout the valley there are many apple trees introduced by the British.
In the morning, we are going to visit Vashist hot spring very good for the skin.
Then we are going to explore ancient Hindu temples such as Hadimbha built in the 15th century and Manu Temple.

DAY 18 : MANALI – BUNTAR – FLHIGHT – DELHI
Early morning transfer to Buntar airport for flight to Delhi. Arrive at Delhi Lunch in a Restaurant and city sightseeing included India Gate, Parliament house, President house, Birla Mandir.
.After the visit transfer to the hotel.

DAY 19 : DELHI – FLIGHT – FRANCE
This morning after breakfast we are going to revisit the old Delhi, Juma Masjid, Red Fort and Guru Dwarka Bangla Sahib.
After the visit back to the hotel for wash & change and dinner. After that will transfer to international airport to catch the flight to France.

Itinerary

A beautiful and challenging trek through the pristine wilderness of the Chang Tang plateau, which stretches far into Tibet. The trail was used as an ancient trade route. During this wonderful trek we will cross the infinite high plateau, the lake Tsomoriri and Parang Chu. This wild and real high altitude trek will take you to Parang La (5500m) before entering the valley of Spiti. We will end up at Kibbar the highest village in the world. Spiti resembles Ladakh and Zanskar in its Tibetan style Buddhist culture and is home of many world famous monasteries like Tab, Dhankar and Kee.
