DAY 1: FLIGHT FRANCE DELHI
Flight to Delhi. You will be greeted on arrival by one of our representatives and then transferred to your hotel.

DAY 2: DELHI – LEH.
Morning flight for Leh from Delhi. On arrival at Leh you will be greeted by our representative and transfer to hotel for check-in. Spend the day in the hotel for rest and acclimatization. This is very necessary for getting acclimatized at high altitude. Evening one can visit market of Leh.

DAY 3: LEH – STOK PALACE – THIKSAY.
3rd day in altitude and you almost acclimatized. Visit of Stok Palace, the current residence of the king of Ladakh. (Namgyail dynasty of Ladakh) which built in 18thcentury. Converted into a museum and heritage hotel.
We then go to Thiksey Monastery also called ‘mini potala’. Built in the 15th century, it is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Ladakh. It belongs to the Gelugpa order. Lunch at Thiksey.
In evening we climb up to the Namgyail Tsemo. The view from top is unforgettable, back to the hotel through old town.

DAY 4: SPITUK – PHIYANG – ALCHI
After breakfast, we take the road towards Alchi in western part of Ladakh. On the way, we will visit the two monasteries Spituk and Phiyang, lunch at Alchi.
In the afternoon we will visit the Alchi Monastery, also known by the name of Alchi Choskor, built by great translator Rinchen Zangpo. The oldest monuments preserved here date back to the middle of the 12th century. Alchi monastery is classified World Heritage by UNESCO.

DAY 5: ALCHI – LAMAYURU – RIZONG – LEH
Two-hour drive to Lamayuru on the way the landscape is mesmerizing.
Lamayuru is one of the oldest monastic institutions of Ladakh, it belongs to the red hat order of Digungpa. The history of the monastery begins with the visit of Arahat Nimagung to this place, when there was merely a lake here. It is said that Arahat made a prophecy that "a monastery will come up at this spot". Thereafter, Mahasiddha Naropa (1016–1100) the great translator Rinchen Zangpo (958–1055) visited the place. Lunch on the way to Rizong
Rizong monastery is Gelugpa Yellow Hat monastery is also called the Yuma Changchubling. It was established in 1831 by Lama Tsultim Nima. The monastery is also called “the paradise for meditation” and is noted for its extremely strict rules and standards. There are 40 monks in the monastery
The nunnery, located about 2 km from the monastery, is called the “Nunnery” or Chulichan, where, at present, 20 nuns reside.

DAY 6: SHEY -HEMIS -GOTSANG -RUMTSE.
Today we will leave the hotel with bags and all equipment for the trek. On the way, visit of Shey palace and then we go to Hemis. Before visiting the monastery, we climb up to Gottsang (Vulture Nest) a famous place to do the traditional Buddhist meditation of 3 years, 3 month, and 3 days.

Hemis is the largest and richest monastery in Ladakh. It was founded in 1633 by the king Singay Namgyal and Lama Staktsang Raspa of Bhutan. Hemis belongs to the Drukpa Kagyu order. Thiksey is one of the most beautiful monasteries of Ladakh, it is known as ‘the mini Potala’. It belongs to the Gelukpa order. The monastery was founded by Lama Paldan Sheyrab the nephew of Sheyrab Zangpo in mid-15th century.

DAY 7: RUMTSE – CHORTEN SUMDO.
First day of the trek we enter a magnificent, vast and flat area which will help us to get more acclimatize. During the trek you may spot some wild animal.

DAY 8 : CHORTEN SUMDO – KYAMAYER LA – MANDALCHAN LA – TISALING.
We start through beautiful gorge with a gradual ascent towards our first pass Kyamayur la (4900m.) Spectacular view of the Chanthang plateau and Kangyatse range. We steadily descend towards the valley of Stazurma. After the picnic, we set out for our next pass Mandalchan La which is a relatively easy ascent. From the pass another 45minutes to Tisaling.

DAY 9 : TISALING – SHIBUK LA – THUKJAY.
We start the day with lots of energy by gradually ascent the Shibuk La (5000m). From the top; we get a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, Tsokar Lake (4400m) and the Rupshu valley. Walk down until the plain of Tsokar and where we will see the wild ass (kyang). Once we reach the camp, visit of the small Thukjay monastery. Built during the 17th century, it is branch of Korzok monastery. The cave of Avalokiteshvara inside the monastery is worth visiting.

DAY 10: THUKJAY – TSOKAR – RIYUL – NURUCHAN.
We leave Thukjay village which is also a winter settlement for the nomads. Easy trek along the lake. Tsokar means ‘white lake’ because of the deposits of salt which encrust its shores; it used to be the only source of salt for entire Ladakh. Tsokar wetland is the summer home of many migratory birds, like the most famous black-necked crane, bar-headed geese, ruddy shelduck, great crested grebes, mergansers, brown headed gulls, lesser sand plovers, redshanks, and many more. After the picnic, we carry on along the trail to the right shore of the lake and walk in a barren landscape until Nuruchan.

DAY 11 : NURUCHAN – HORLAM KONGKA LA - RACHUNG KARU.
Later start since it is a short day. Cross the stream of Nuruchan before gradually ascending towards Horlam Kongka La (4900m). From the pass, we have a magnificent view of endless landscape with the turquoise blue lake Tsokar. After an easy walk down to Rachung Karu, we will have the chance to meet the Tibetan nomad’s families and share unforgettable moments with them.

DAY 12 :RACHUNG KARU – KYAMAYUR LA -GYAMABARMA – KARTSE LA – GYAMA.
Long and challenging day with two high passes, an early start is recommended. Before leaving the camp, we are going see some nomadic activities. Women are very busy with the household, the kitchen, their children, and milking the sheep, goats, cows, and Drimo. We will witness the processing of dairy products like, butter, yogurt, milk, and dry cheese.
After spending some time with the nomads, we will continue towards Kyamayur La (5410m), going down to Gyamabarma and have lunch near the stream. The next pass is Kartse La (5300m). After a short break, we descend gradually down to the lush, green valley of Gyama (5000m) the highest camp site in this route.

DAY 13« : GAMA – YALUNG NYAU LA – KORZOK.
In the morning, we will cross the very cold stream of Gyma, before gradually ascending the trail joins the small stream follow down from the pass. It will take us minimum two hour to reach the pass Yalung Nyau La (5450m). The highest and the last pass of our trek. The view from here is breathtaking. Descending steeply for an hour to reach the Korzok Phu, we will encounter the summer pasture of the Korzok people, from here we continue to our final destination, the village of Korzok, overlooking Tsomoriri and inhabited by a small, permanent settlement of Changpa nomads. Visit the Korzok monastery and then to go view point to enjoy the beauty of the lake and sunset.

DAY 14: TSOMORIRI – CHUMATHANG – LEH.
Tsomoriri Lake (4550m) is one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes, situated in the middle of the elevated valley of Rupshu surrounded by many high peaks. Before leaving for Leh, we take a short walk on the shore of the lake to enjoy this splendid place. The long drive back to Leh gives tremendous opportunities for photography. We pass through many villages. Picnic stop at Chumathang and visit of the hot spring.

DAY 15 : LEH – FLIGHT TO DELHI – DRIVE TO AGRA
In the Morning after breakfast you will be transfer to Leh Airport to take a flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi you will be drive to AGRA in the state of Uttar Pradesh. During the drive from Delhi to Agra, you can enhance your experience by enjoying everything that lies on the way.
Overnight at hotel in AGRA.

DAY 16 : TAH MAHAL -DELHI – FLIGHT - FRANCE
Before breakfast, we will take advantage of the sunrise lights to visit the TAJ MAHAL. It's the perfect time to appreciate this world-famous masterpiece. It was built at the request of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to immortalize his love for his wife Mumtaz.
Renowned for its perfection and harmony, symmetry and aesthetics. Together we will discover one of the Seven Wonders of the World and one of the greatest architectural gems of Indo-Muslim art. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Then, we will discover the Agra Fort, built of red sandstone by the Mughal emperors. We will then drive back to Delhi Airport. Return flight to France.

Itinerary

Rumtse Tsomoriri is unique trek in the heart of high-altitude plateau of Chanthang, known as the Land of nomads. It is known as an upland or `cold desert' region (one of India's five listed `bio-diversity' regions). It is an opportunity to have glimpse into nomads’ way of life and their livestock including, horse, yak, sheep and pashmina goat. You can also see wild animals and migratory birds.
